[Boardman, Ohio] — In recognition of Rotary International’s Basic Education and Literacy Month, the Rotary Club of Boardman distributed dictionaries to Boardman Local Schools’ four elementary schools.

During the week of September 10, Rotary volunteers took two days to distribute dictionaries to the third grade classes at Stadium Drive Elementary, Market Street Elementary, Robinwood Elementary and West Boulevard Elementary.

“Third grade is an exceptionally important year for reading, and the emphasis of a dictionary makes an impact on the students,” said Deb Liptak, the Boardman Rotarian who coordinated the project.   “Boardman Rotary is accomplishing a big literacy push for our community with this project.”
Rotary members throughout the world take action to make communities better. They contribute their time, energy, and passion to carry out meaningful and sustainable projects that promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, help mothers and children, support education, and grow local economies.
