Providing access to opportunities once thought beyond their reach is the focus at Inspiring Minds, said Deryck Toles, the organization's founder and director, at the Tuesday, July 29 meeting.
Toles, a Warren native, founded the organization in 2006 as a result of his desire to give students the opportunity to prepare for successful futures. Pulling from his own experiences as a teenager, he formed a vision of providing after-school educational programs, exposure trips, college visits, and college readiness and professional development. Inspiring Minds now works with over 300 third through twelfth grade students from the Warren Inner City.

Boardman Rotary presented a check in the amount of $1,000 to Michelle Jones of the Down Syndrome Association of the Valley. The donation will sponsor the annual Buddy Walk, which benefits DSAV.
